Covers have a few almost imperceptible smudges, else pristine and intact, binding tight, sharp tips. Missing dust jacket. Pages pristine and intact. 76 pp., including illustrations. Replete with illustrations of the artist's work in black-and-white and color. Signed by the artist in blue pen in a margin on the title page. William Gilkerson (1936-2015) was an American author and artist. A catalog published on the occasion of an exhibition at the Peabody Museum of Salem featuring Gilkerson's art. As suggested by the title, Gilkerson specialized in maritime subjects such as ships, sailors, and seascapes. He worked in a variety of media including watercolors, oil painting, drawing, and scrimshaw. Back colophon: "Two thousand copies of this book have been printed, of which 1700 are softbound, 261 are hardbound and Arabic numbered, and 39 copies containing an extra plate and an original drawing have been bound for the artist and are numbered LXXXIX.
