Exhibition catalog published on the occasion of a two-artist show, _Lucy Gunning - Juan Cruz_, that was held at Kunstlerwerkstatt Lothringerstrasse in Munich from August 28-September 29, 1999. Both artists focused on linguistics, speech, written and spoken communication, body language, and like subjects within their artworks for this show. Lucy Gunning (b. 1964) is an American mixed-media artist who has worked in various art disciplines including filmmaking, photography, video art, performance art, book-making, and sculpture. Juan Cruz (b. 1970) is a Spanish-English artist who has also worked with a variety of media. He is perhaps best-known for his digital artworks and performance art that reference Spanish history and the importance of context in conveying meaning. Edited by Susanne Gaensheimer with an essay by Andrew Cross. Also included are printed texts from three of Cruz's artworks in the show.
