A beautiful folio of facsimile prints by Jan Gillisz van Vliet and an accompanying booklet by Harry Bober that discusses the historiography and artistic practice of Van Vliet and his famous _Book of Crafts and Trades_. The prints are from said book by Van Vliet and charmingly depict workers in various crafts and trades such as metalsmithing, woodworking, basketry, and barrel-making. Jan Gillisz van Vliet (1605-1668) was a Dutch Golden Age artist who studied under Rembrandt. Van Vliet is best-known for his drawings and prints. Bober emphasizes that Van Vliet's work has been overlooked because he is associated with Rembrandt and argues that Van Vliet needs to be re-examined as an individual artist in his own right. Heavy and oversized items may require additional shipping.
