The show featured the paintings of Ignacio Iturria (b. 1949), an Uruguayan painter, engraver, and teacher. Iturria's paintings depict the complex emotional aspects of everyday life, domestic spaces, and families over generations. Many of his paintings use monochromatic color palettes of brown, black, and white which are rendered, through expressive paintwork (Iturria does not use a traditional brushes but pallet knives and the like), into surreal architectural landscapes that are literal and figurative emotional spaces of their inhabitants.
