Published on the occasion of an exhibition featuring the paintings of Carlos Arias (b. 1964), a Chilean-born artist who lives in Mexico. When he was a child, he and his parents fled to Mexico to escape the authoritarian regime in Chile. Arias initially worked with oil painting but later shifted his focus to making embroideries.
