Notes: Scarce in the trade, there being only a single additional copy available. Great-looking, structurally sound hardcover copy, pumpkin-colored cloth bindings, lightly sunned along bottom edge, else clean and bright of interior. Gilt over stamped illustration, inset, to front cover, gilt lettering to spine. Dust jacket rotected by a paper-backed Brodart sleeve, moderately worn of front and rear panels, chipping to spine bottom and top near spine at front panel, but featuring a fine work from ancient Egypt of a weaver plying her loom. 28 pp., and with 64 plates. The Wikipedia entry about Heinrich Johannes Hermann Ranke (August 5, 1878 – April 22, 1953) notes that he was a German Egyptologist who worked at the University of Heidelberg. "He was forced to leave during the Nazi regime as his wife had Jewish ancestors," and eventually found employment at the University of Pennsylvania.
