Joyce Kozloff (b. 1942) is an American mixed-media artist. Since the 1990s, Kozloff has focused on political artworks that incorporate cartography. _Joyce Kozloff: Targets_ featured such artworks. Eleanor Heartney, in her essay, _Maps as Metaphors: Recent Works by Joyce Kozloff_ (included herein), discusses Kozloff's artistic practice, her incisive and illuminating presentations of cartography, the role maps play in the realm of politics, and _Knowledge_ and _Targets_, a series and standalone artwork, respectively, featured in the exhibition. _Knowledge_ explores cartographic inaccuracies and their implications over the centuries of mapmaking. _Targets_ takes a more somber tone and displays map fragments representing all of the countries the United States has bombed since 1945. Acquired from the private library of photorealist, Robert Bechtle and art historian, Whitney Chadwick.
