Multicolored, pictorial paper wrappers with matte texture. Color illustrations of one of the artist's paintings on front. Black lettering on gray-green spine. Covers have slight wear to edges and tips, as well as slight rubbing, else clean and intact, binding tight. Pages pristine and intact. Replete with beautiful color illustrations. 56 pp., including illustrations. Back colophon: "2000 copies printed in Hong Kong by QuinnEssentials Books and Printing, Petaluma, California." A catalog published on the occasion of a traveling solo exhibition of paintings by Hung Liu (1948-2021), a Chinese artist best-known for her sociopolitical paintings. Her signature style, as exemplified by the works in this catalog, incorporates painted imagery based on historical photographs which are then covered with dripped layers of linseed oil. Liu's paintings often depict women, children, soldiers, and subjects relating to the history of China. Liu grew up during China's Cultural Revolution; many of her paintings center upon the hardships she and others faced during this tumultuous time. Introductory essays by curators  Sandy Harthorn of the Arizona State University Art Museum and Heather Sealy Lineberry of the Boise Art Museum. From 2002-2003, the exhibition traveled to these two museums as well as the Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach and the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento.
